Lucca Comics & Games 2024: Dorian Gray

It was a busy year for Benjamin Lacombe (@benjaminlacombe) who describes himself as the white rabbit:

“I chase time after procrastinating.”

If the name brings something to mind, it’s because we told you about it last year. Japanese Feud, Alice, Notre Dame and now Dorian Gray is added to the list of works recreated by Lacombe. On this diversity he tells us:

“I like to explore the whole world. I never focus on just one continent or part of the world. I’m currently editing “Encyclopedia of the Marvelous” where different folklore figures are analyzed and how they are seen in different parts of the world”.

PH by Leonardo Marciano

Why Dorian Gray? How do you decide to work on a certain classic?:

“It’s not an easy question. There are many reasons that lead me to one story rather than another. In this one it was the macabre tale that struck me, and I felt the need to tell it… It seemed like an extremely current topic. It’s as if we were living the experience of Dorian Gray, especially with social media. Many use filters or only show altered parts of their lives, choosing things and how to show them. What comes out, how much is it a portrait that corresponds to the person?”
