Goosebumps has recently returned to the limelight thanks to a new adaptation released by Disney+ and Hulu.
10 episodes that brought me back to childhood, but this does not mean it is a product for children.
On the contrary, the new adaptation has a central plot that our protagonists follow, and there is an increase in horror without neglecting the comic part that characterizes R. L. Stine’s style.
Some might interpret this “maturation” of the plot as a distortion of Staine’s original vision ; to them I answer:
Yes, but is it really such a bad thing?

Let’s be clear, there are more faithful and less mature adaptations, so why not have something that recalls the original, respects its story, but that we can also enjoy now that we have grown up?
With dozens of references to the classic series, this new interpretation is ideal for old fans, and for those who are just curious and know nothing about one of the most influential authors of recent years.
The mask, worms, camera, and of course the inevitable Slappy puppet ; it’s all there.
A personal note of merit goes to Justin Long, who in some scenes reminded me of a young Bruce Campbell with his physical humor.
