Baltimore Comic Con 2025: A Good Surprise

There is no better way to enjoy a weekend than to explore a new comic con. Especially with this Baltimore Comic Con, there was a true emphasis on COMIC, with almost 50% of the exhibitor stands being filled with comics collections, both old and new. The other exhibitor stands displayed statues (miniature and life-size), RPG, cards (Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh, Magic), movie props, video games, books, and clothing.

Artist Alley was definitely quality instead of quantity. Instead of getting many artists completing the same type of art (usually drawings), there was a wider breath of types of handmade art: pottery, candles, jewelry, wood carvings, and knitting. The artists displaying their drawings, despite a lower percentage of Artist Alley than other conventions, were all displaying different types of drawings, ranging from known superheroes and villains, to animals, to their own created characters.

The autographing area was not packed with media guests where it is impossible to see who you want. Instead, it was a perfect balance to ensure that people could spend equal time in each area and still be able to accomplish what they wanted, whether it was an autograph on a movie poster, a custom sketch from an artist, or a picture with movie props available.

The longest line was for pictures with the enchanted car from the Harry Potter movies. The most prominent of the guests were the Weasley siblings: Ginny Weasley played by Bonnie Wright, Fred Weasley played by James Phelps, and George Weasley played by Oliver Phelps. There was even a wonderful panel ‘Weasley Family Spotlight’ where they were able to tell stories of their time in production and answer questions. Other media guests included Giancarlo Esposito and Michael Biehn from the Madalorian and Carl Lunby from Captain America: Brave New World.

There were even many panels for comic enthusiasts who don’t know where to start in writing their own story, or want to learn more on how to edit successfully. There was also a separate video game area, cosplay section with a contest, and even a studio to turn yourself into a Bobble Head.

All in all, this was a small comic con, but there were exciting, new experiences around every corner and a great balance of passions for all to enjoy.
