And this edition of New York Comic Con has come to an end. Let’s take stock.
The autograph area was packed with long, tight lines for names like Sigourney Weaver, Laurence Fishburne, and Brendan Fraser. Just seeing those three names made me feel like a kid again. So we couldn’t miss out on not getting the Alien, Matrix, and The Mummy posters signed. As if that wasn’t enough, the entire cast of Critical Role was there, along with many names from the new X-Men films.
Artist Alley was packed with Italians. Thanks to a virtually nonexistent market in their homeland and strong demand abroad where collectors aren’t intimidated by prices and are willing to pay for original art—not the usual prints—Italian artists have found fertile ground overseas.

But…
Yes, Jack Skellington will get a comic book sequel. Everyone’s talking about it, but the real questions are: was it really necessary? Who asked for it? And when it comes out a year from now, who will remember it?
Marvel Animation and Marvel Television continue to churn out titles and projects, fueling a market that has long been saturated and tired.
A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms will be yet another Game of Thrones prequel (which, let’s face it, no one really asked for).
One Punch Man Season 3 is out, but… did you know Season 2 was already out?
In short: a lot of meat, but too much gristle.
