A different panel. The master Gou Tanabe (@gou_tanabe) preferred to have the questions asked by the fans instead of having a host. There were no usual questions, no useless questions; there were only questions that the fans are interested in knowing the answers to.
The master avoids calling himself “successful” as he believes that he is still only at the beginning. Tanabe tells us about the inspirations that allowed him to represent the shy and dark figures of Lovecraft. Reproducing the light by drawing the shadow overcomes the difficulty in representing a story like “The Color Out of Space”. Trying to put a shape on a sheet of paper and painting the non-colors, you can give a shape to the impossible.

Stupendous works require a complex process and the master is no exception. He creates freehand storyboards, then environment and 3D characters, after which he decides how and where to move the camera and then re-does everything by hand on paper where it goes to complete with digital shading. In short, Gou Tanabe has a modern and innovative approach, but above all, fast.
As said before, it was a different panel, but an interesting one. We were very pleased to see an artist who gives space to his fans by making himself uncomfortable instead of being comfortable with the usual scripted questions. We would really like to see more panels like this.
