Let’s talk about a movie I just saw: City Hunter? No, if only, but instead I spend my usual two cents on Wonka.
Initial thoughts:
I like it, but…
The credits are still rolling and all I can think is that Wonka has only one flaw: it’s not a movie in its own right.
But why do I like it?
It is a story that disguises itself as a soloist and then opens up to a choral story and then leaves only glimpses of choral elements.
Choreography, photography, actors, costumes… everyone does their job (decently) except Chalamet. He gives 110% with what they gave him, and he also manages to make you forget the rest.
About his role, Hugh Grant says:
“I couldn’t have hated the whole thing more.”

Some characters exist only to create plot holes in the film itself and in the story as a whole, be it the book or the two film adaptations that precede this film.
Evolution of the protagonist makes no sense if taken as a whole.
The moral of the film? Believe in your dreams, and if the system tries to eliminate you…
Eliminate the system…
Wait!
Why do I like this film?
