Welcome back to the 2000s, or almost! If you feel a sudden urge to answer the phone by yelling “Wazzuuuuup!” at the top of your lungs, you’re not crazy; it’s just the effect of the first, crazy trailer for Scary Movie 6, just released by Paramount Pictures.
After more than a decade of silence (and let’s face it, we’ve missed it), the saga that taught an entire generation to laugh at fear is back. And it’s not with a half-hearted reboot, but with a full-blown family reunion.
The Return of the “Fantastic Four”: the news breaking the internet is the return of the Wayans brothers (Marlon, Shawn, and Keenen Ivory) to the creative helm. It hasn’t happened since the second installment! But the real rush of nostalgia comes from the cast: Anna Faris and Regina Hall reprise their roles as Cindy and Brenda. Seeing Cindy still confused and Brenda ready to scream at the theater is the warm embrace we didn’t know we needed. And yes, he’s here too: Doofy (Dave Sheridan) is back.
Let’s just hope he’s finished vacuuming his room this time…
Why are we so excited? In an era of perhaps overly serious movies, the return of politically incorrect, zany, and physical humor is a breath of fresh air. Marlon Wayans has promised the film will be an “equal opportunity offender”: no one will be spared, and honestly, after years of “psychological horror” films that leave us anxious, we just want to see someone trip on a banana peel while running from a killer.
Scary Movie 6 will be released in theaters at the beginning of June, 2026.
