Two episodes of Baracchino were shown exclusively at Comicon in Naples.
From the auditorium of the Teatro Mediterraneo, Pascuale Petrolo (better known as Lillo), Frank Matano, and directors Niccolò Cicci and Salvo di Paola present “Baracchino”, a series exclusively on Prime Video from June 3. The public also had the opportunity to see two episodes in absolute preview.
Lillo:
“The nice thing is that we didn’t even dub ; we acted without an audience and they animated the characters afterwards. It’s a beautiful job compared to classic dubbing. I started in clubs ; the Baracchino was once a cultured venue and I happened to find myself in similar places. I did evenings in a club at the time which despite only seating 80 people, there was always a queue outside. I wanted to be an animator when I was young. Everything that has to do with this world is welcome. It also comes close to the power that radio has, where you don’t see but it creates a vision. In this series, there is no dubbing ; everyone speaks with their own voice. I enjoy the short circuit between the voices and the characters”.
Frank Matano:
“You are witnessing a miracle ; it doesn’t happen often that cartoons are made in Italy. Donato is the perfect spectator of a comedy show ; he loves comedy like me. I feel very lucky to be able to work with these comedians. My first night was at a beauty contest with the relatives of the MILFs who didn’t even take me into account ; it was a terrible experience and it took me a long time to get over that moment. Animation allows you to do more things without too many restrictions. I grew up with Family Guy and The Simpsons ; cartoons are the funniest thing of the story”.

Directors:
“The idea was born in a garage ; we worked in advertising and to survive the boredom, we created a prototype of the character of Jerry. We created 50 seconds of animation tests and we said why not involve other comedians. We wrote on insta to these comedians and they said yes, let’s do it. Some time, later I worked on a film for Lucky Star and during the lunch break I was working at Baracchino ; I met a producer of the film who gave me the opportunity to present the project. Animation must be motivated. We wanted to do the craziest things possible and use a particular animation style ; that’s why the series is in mixed styles. For us, it’s the perfect medium”.
