ah Dune… what can we say about this second part?

Let’s start with the obvious: Villeneuve gives us another of his pearls. Stills photographer Greig Fraser continues to experiment with infrared photography to best tell the story of Giedi Prime, the home world of the Harkonnens. It is a dark and inhospitable world that Fraser has managed to show on screen at its best, respecting the imagination of F. Herbert.

Taking into account the changes from the book, the characters and the story are coherent and truthful. The cast continues to give their best. Chalamet fits the difficult role of Paul like a glove. Bardem is simply fantastic and gives life to Stilgar. Walken, even if he has a relatively short screen time, manages to play the Emperor, giving him depth and many facets.

Ferguson is simply incredible. We won’t list the rest of the cast here, but we just say that there is no one who hasn’t perfectly played the part.

So why is our opinion not entirely positive?

It’s a mix of things. We already know that Villeneuve has a trilogy in mind and in some ways, the ending of the first two titles gives more the feeling of a paragraph that closes and not the end of a chapter.

For the older ones, how did you feel when you left the cinema the first time you saw “The Fellowship of the Ring” and you knew that you would have to wait a year to see the second chapter?

Perhaps this feeling is due to the difficulty in adapting a work like Dune. One thing is certain: we can’t wait to see the third (and last?) chapter.
