Midway upon the journey of our life

I found myself in a dark wood,

for the straight path was lost.

The Divine Comedy, Inferno, Canto I. Dante.

It seems Jyamma Games has become lost in a jungle of its own making. Several digital figures—influencers, streamers, and YouTubers—including Blur, aka Gianmarco Tocco, are accusing Jyamma Games of unpaid payments. Many have even filed lawsuits against the Italian development studio.

These rumors have been confirmed to us by multiple sources, who will remain anonymous to protect their privacy.

So, what really happened?

According to the accusations, Jyamma failed to honor the payments due for various product-placement campaigns. This is nothing entirely unprecedented; in fact, it happens that some publishers pay for advertising only after collecting the revenue from sales. However, it seems the problem here went deeper.

Perhaps, the problem stems from an obvious fact: Enotria wasn’t the commercial success hoped for. Finding the game at a 20% discount just a month after its release, and now at a whopping 50%, certainly isn’t a good sign.

The real media firestorm erupted with the announcement of Jyamma’s new title presented at this year’s Gamescom: The Divine Comedy. Hence the speculation: was the project funded, in part, with money never paid to influencers?

La Divina Commedia / Jyamma Games

It’s hard to say. On the one hand, we don’t know how long the game has been in development or what agreements Jyamma had with Gamescom for the teaser release. On the other, the suspicious timing inevitably fuels doubts.

For now, there are only rumors and few certainties.

It remains to be seen whether this affair will be just a parenthesis, or the final nail in Jyamma’s coffin.
